The enchanted carousel

Beneath the golden lights of the Musée des Arts Forains in Paris, this old carousel awaits you.
It was built in 1897 by the craftsmen Caillebaut and Decanck in Ghent, Belgium.
This velocipede carousel was considered a true thrill ride of its time.
Reaching speeds of up to 60 km/h, it offered visitors a unique experience of speed and adrenaline, quite a sensation for that era!
I had the chance to try it myself, and believe me, it's dizzying... especially when everyone pedals at once!
The words I chose to accompany this photograph speak of that moment when the whirlwind of the world carries us away from ourselves — until exhaustion.
It's also about time itself, rushing forward at a frantic pace, drawing us into its endless dance, leaving behind laughter and memories.
A never-ending movement, exhilarating and vertiginous, that photography manages, for an instant, to suspend.
You can find this artwork in the Silent Presences collection.
